The Return
It had been six months since Sachiko’s accident. She had fallen from a ladder while trying to decorate her classroom. When she woke up in the hospital, she realized that she couldn’t move anything below her neck. This was the start of her new life as a quadriplegic. In those six months that followed, multiple therapy sessions had allowed her to regain some function in her arms and hands. She had been able to slowly move her left hand after two months of therapy, and after four months, she was able to raise her left arm to face level, albeit very slowly and carefully. Her right arm, after six months worth of therapy sessions, was still mostly immobile, save for some very limited movement in her hand and fingers.
